Essential steps for a healthy skin care routine
Discover the 6 skincare steps and products for your age.
Do you ever wonder why your skin does what it does, at certain times of your life? Well here it is. Simple facts of your skin cycle according to your age and what you can do to help combat the aging process.
As most of you know your skin is the largest organ of your body. It consists of three layers of tissues. The epidermis, the dermis and the subcutaneous tissue layer. The epidermis is the outermost layer of your skin and is paper thin. It is in this layer the anti-aging process becomes critical depending on your age. The outer layer of the epidermis consists of dead skin cells that flake off or can be washed off. Once these dead skin cells are removed, they are replaced by fresh new skin cells manufactured in the lower portion of the epidermis. The removed skin cells force the fresh new cells upward to the outside of the skin. As the cells move upwards the old cells harden and die off. Creating a younger healthier appearance for your skin.
This cell production cycle and replacement slows down as we age. It takes an average of 28 days for the cell cycle to fulfill its production on a young or middle-aged adult. As we age, the skin cycle slows to 45-60 days in our 40’s and 50’s. The process can further slow to about 60-90 days in our 50’s and 60’s. As the process slows down the dead skin cells accumulate on the surface of the skin causing sagging and weakening of the skin structure. What we see are lines, wrinkles and continued deeper folds. Bacteria can become trapped as well causing blemishes and breakouts. Cells can become discolored causing discoloration, spots and sometimes more serious skin conditions.
Other factors that can affect the skin cycle are hormones, sun exposure, illness, nutrition, pollution, stress and smoking.
When you force the outer surface of the skin to make newer fresher skin cells our skin feels softer, has a healthy luminous glow. Less lines occur and there is a noticeable improvement in our skin tone. By maintaining a faster skin cell replacement cycle through a healthy skin care routine your skin will appear smoother and more youthful.
What are the steps to a healthy skin care routine?
First, you need a good cleanser from Tahitian Blue. Our Tahitian Blue cleansers are effective, gentle and help promote a healthy skin environment.
Second, you need to tone. A toner will help remove extra residue that water leaves behind when you rinse away your cleanser. Tap water is loaded with lots of mineral deposits that are not good for your skin and disrupt the healthy skin cycle your trying to achieve. Our Tahitian Blue Hydrating Peptide Toner with Matrixyl 300 and peptides not only encourage rapid cell turnover and help expedite the skin's natural rebuilding process of collagen and elastin. It rapidly rehydrates the skin and leaving it in perfect PH balance feeling soft and supple to the touch.
Third, you need to exfoliate!!!!! A must is an exfoliating product that you love and will use several times a week to wash those dead skin cells away. Using your favorite exfoliating products several times a week will rapidly encourage new fresh skin cells up to the surface of your skin. Which is right where you want them. Our Tahitian Blue exfoliants are formulated with lots of pro-vitamins to help fight free radicals and reverse hyperpigmentation due to sun and age. Created to hydrate your skin while you exfoliate, our exfoliators are gentle enough to use as often as needed.
Fourth, a good serum will compliment your anti-aging daily routine perfectly. Serums are a smaller molecule therefore they penetrate deeper into your skin then a higher molecule product. A moisturizer is a higher molecule product denser and heavier. One of the best anti-aging methods in your skin care routine is drive your serum deeper into the skin by layering your moisturizer on top of your serum. This dynamic duo will team up and accelerate the anti-aging process providing the rapid results your wanting from your skin care routine. Trying to select the perfect serum is difficult since Tahitian Blue has the best of the best serums. It’s hard to beat our Hawaiian Dual Peptide serum since it is formulated with Topical Botox. For myself and my clients I use all of these serums at different times of the day and night to keep my skin hydrated with our emu serum, even out my skin tone and fight free radicals with the Super C serum and the aspect of topical botox in our Hawaiian dual peptide serum is important to me too. I have been known to add the emu into my moisturizer to make sure I receive the all of the Omega benefits from the emu serum. Creating a much more luxurious moisturizer for sure. I apply that combo over my serum of choice. Vitamin C in the morning and Hawaiian dual peptide serum at night. This routine allows my skin to receive benefits from all of the serums without sacrificing any of the benefits and avoiding a complicated routine. Although from time to time I will layer our emu serum over the super c serum or the hawaiian peptide serum. Works like magic. Then follow with your favorite moisturizer. p.s. I also add the emu serum to my tropical body butter for the extra anti-aging benefits. A perfect duo!!!
Fifth, hydration. The critical need to moisturize. Keeping your skin perfectly balanced and hydrated is crucial to your skin care success. The biggest reason our skin shows signs of aging is by way of dehydration. Our Tahitian Blue moisturizers will allow your skin to benefit from the increased hydration and their botanicals helping to further decrease those pesky signs of aging. Daily usage of our Emu serum will also hydrate your skin and return it to its natural state. Emu serum is the perfect anti-aging serum used as a stand-alone moisturizer, added to your moisturizer or layered under moisturizer it will allow your skin to repair and hydrate beautifully.
Sixth, sunscreen. There is nothing worse than exposing your skin to environmental damage. Exposure to the sun is the number one cause of skin cancer, causes sun and age spots, fine lines and wrinkles. Wearing sunscreen drastically reduces your exposure to UVA and UVB light. Our Tahitian Blue sunscreen has taken it up a notch with a 7% Zinc oxide with 7.5% Octinoxate and 5.0% Octisalate. We call our sunscreen advanced due to the extra benefits of botanical ingredients we have included to further protect and repair your skin from sun damage. Sun exposure is the number one sign of aging. Sun exposure is the number one cause of skin cancer. Don’t take chances with your skin.
